Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar are three of the footballing stars to have made it into the top 10 of Forbes ranking of the world’s highest-earning athletes.


Barcelona star Messi is placed second in the list, ahead of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar .

The superstar trio, however, all trail boxer Floyd Mayweather, who has lived up to his ‘Money’ nickname by earning $285 million (£212m) over the course of 2017.
